GE’s CF6 Engine Family
GE’s CF6 engine family remains the longest-running jet engine program in commercial aviation, having entered service in 1971 as GE’s first successful powerplant for the commercial widebody aircraft segment. The CF6-80C2 continues in production today. The CF6 is a two-shaft turbofan which powers medium- to long-haul Airbus and Boeing widebody aircraft. The successful model is one of the best-selling engines in its class and was MTU’s first engine for commercial aviation 50 years ago. In addition to marine and industrial applications, GE has delivered more than 8,500 CF6 engines to power 10 unique commercial and military aircraft families with 25 variants. The most popular engine model, the CF6-80C2, boasts the largest installed base of any widebody engine in history.
The PW4000 Engine Family
The PW4000 94-inch fan engine is the first model in the PW4000 family of high-thrust engines.There has been a lot of press recently related to the PW4000 engine family. It covers a range of 52,000 to 62,000 pounds of thrust and has five major aircraft applications. Approved for 180-minute Extended-range Twin-engine Operations (ETOPS), the engine provide airlines with excellent operational flexibility and high reliability. Since entering revenue service in 1987, Pratt & Whitney has delivered more than 2,500 PW4000-94” engines that have collectively logged more than 150 million dependable flight hours on commercial aircraft around the world. The PW4000 engine family has a long history of reliable service and this will continue.

With nearly 33,000 engines delivered to some 600 commercial and military operators around the globe, CFM International’s CFM56* product line powers the world’s most successful aircraft, including the Airbus A320ceo and neo families and the Boeing 737 Classic and Next-Generation models.The CFM56 engine set the industry standard for single-aisle commercial jet engines that holds today. Owing its success to its exceptional reliability and performance, CFM56 was built on over four decades of experience and technological excellence. With more than 33,000 engines delivered to date, it powers more than 600 operators worldwide. The CFM56-7B is the exclusive engine for the Boeing Next-Generation single-aisle airliner. In total, more than 15,000 CFM56-7B engines have been delivered to power 737 aircraft, making it the most popular engine-aircraft combination in commercial aviation history .
